Sorry for the somewhat confusion of the last post. I decided to do a few videos for you as well as the pictures to see if I can give you a better idea of what our place looks like.

Joys of parenting
Since it has been cold (54 degrees where we are not heating) in our apartment, we have had Chloe in our room for the nights. For nap times I try and get her to down without feeding or rocking her or even holding her if I can. I usually just lay her down on my bed, lay next to her letting her hold one of my fingers that she has latched on to and give her a few kisses and she usually falls asleep within a few minutes. I know I am very lucky for that.
Well last night I was tired, and usually for bedtime, I stay up with her and hold her or feed her until she falls asleep. So I tried the nap time routine, only instead of having her on my bed, I had her in the co-sleeper. She did really good with it. She laid quietly for a good 1/2 hour. She would coo every once in a while, but for the most part she just stared at me or the wall. Every time I blinked she blinked, every time I closed my eyes for a few minutes, she would do the same. But she would always open her eyes up to see what I was doing, and if she happened to catch me with my eyes open, she would immediately open hers up as well saying "See mom, I'm not tired either, isn't it great?". She did fall asleep on her own last night. Oh and the best part, she slept from about 10pm until 6am. I got some good sleep last night!
So when she woke up at 6am this morning ,I fed her, changed her and played hit the dad on the head game for a few minutes. Then we got up and she played in her saucer and I worked on some projects. At about 7am she was getting that tired look back in her eyes, so we went back to bed. Only this time as soon as she hit her bed, she was awake again. But I wanted another nap so she was stuck. Well this didn't seem to bother her too much. She got to look at one of her favorite things, light coming through the blinds. So I shut my eyes and started to go to sleep. A few moments later Brett and I are being serenaded to by our 4 1/2 month old! She was singing, cooing, and howling at the blinds for a good 45 minutes before she finally fell asleep. It was the cutest thing ever! She is such a good little baby, she can completely entertain herself and then put herself to sleep.
Lets see how long this will last!
...............................................................
A wise word to all dads:
When you are holding your child because your wife asks you to hold the baby while she does something, and informs you that she just fed that baby....
..... DON'T TOSS THE BABY AROUND AND THEN PUT THE BABY IN THE AIR SUSPENDED OVER YOUR FACE!
Babies have a weak tummy and they lose their food quite easily.
So Brett did this yesterday morning, having fun with Chloe of course, and ended up with a cup and a half of spit up in his mouth, on his shirt, on the bed and all over Chloe. I had to laugh really hard at this one and he had to immediately take a shower and brush his teeth! Good morning honey!

No need for a doctors checkup
So today Brett has his doctoring exam, where he has to show his professors that he can handle giving a patient a physical exam. So with me being here, able bodied, and available at all hours of the day and night, I was the human test subject... for the at home studying. I got four exams today. And I must say that I am pretty healthy.
Brett did discover that I have been grinding my teeth, I have some post nasal dripping in the back of my throat, and a slightly enlarged lymph node in my neck - I might be getting sick - my lungs are clear, my heart sounds very good, my ears are clean and he can see the cone of light, I have weak muscles in my biceps - he couldn't get a reaction from them when he tried to do one of his tests. So I guess I need to start working out more. I have good balance, my left shoulder seems to be sitting just a bit higher than my right, my gut sounds good and healthy, I have good reflexes and I am good with my Nero reflexes.
All in all I am pretty healthy. I am glad that I can get a physical exam and not even have to leave the house for it. I hope he does well on this test. After today, he has two more tests to take, the big 6 hour one with all of the material he has been studying over the past 4 weeks - medication, treatments, and blood stuff along with more things that I am not aware of. And he has his OMM test, the one where he manipulates parts of the body. I can't wait to be the test subject for that one. I hope this time it is less liver quivering and rib raising, and more of the massaging the muscles aspect of the OMM.
Oh and for those of you readers in Washington, we are coming home on Wednesday the 19Th. We probably won't be able to do much at first because Chloe has a doctors appointment and I have a hair cut appointment that I must make. But please call me if you would like to do something when I am up there. I can't wait to see everybody! Oh and think good thoughts about Brett's upcoming tests.

Tagged by Manda
So I got tagged by my cousin Amanda to do this short quiz on my life with my husband. I will not go into as much detail as she did, maybe, but it should be fun.
What is his name? Brett Alan Schweizer
How long have you been married? Almost 3 1/2 years - since August 21st 2004
How long did you date? we dated for a little over 4 years. before he FINALLY popped the question.
How old is he? He turned 26 in November. He is such an old man now.
Who eats more? He definitely eats more than I do. But then again I stay home all day and he rides his bike 6 miles a day, so that does give him an appetite!
Who said I love you first? Brett said I love you first. It was about 3 weeks into our relationship he said "I want you to meet my parents, my family, all my friends, and everyone I have ever met." I said "why?" he replied "Because I love you!"
Who is taller? Brett is by a whopping inch! But when we are sitting I am like 6 inches taller than him. I have a long torso and he has long legs.
Who sings better? Now that would be me. He tries to sing, and it is really sweet when he does, but he just doesn't have the right vocal chords
Who is smarter? Brett by far! He is a walking book of knowledge.
Whose temper is worse? Regretfully it is me who has the worst temper.
Who does the laundry? That would be me as well. He used to do a few loads now and then, but he gets confused on why you need to separate the darks from the lights and then separate out the whites.
Who does the dishes? Mostly I do them, but he helps out when he can.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? depends on where his dresser is. For some reason he has to be on the same side as his dresser. weird I know. Right now he sleeps on the right.
Who pays the bills? I write the checks, he brings in the money
Who mows the lawn? right now we don't have a lawn, but when we did Brett mowed it.
Who cooks dinner? I cook the meals 99.9% of the time. The other day Brett made us grilled cheese sandwiches and they were wonderful. It was the first time he EVER made them. I was impressed.
Who drives when you are together? It is pretty equal when it comes to driving places. When we do long road trips he usually drives longer than I do , but around town it is a toss up.
Who is more stubborn? That would definitely be me! Brett can be stubborn when it comes to certain things like pets, buying stuff, and anything that I would consider being fun, but overall I am the most stubborn on a day to day basis.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I think we are equal on this one. Neither of us are too proud to admit when we are wrong. Especially if it means that the argument would be over.
Whose parents do you see the most? That would be my parents. We used to live with them, and now they can't get enough of Chloe, so they make the trip to see us.
Who proposed? Brett proposed to me. I won't go into details, but the night included dinner, the Nutcracker, a park, and my ring.
Who has more friends? I believe that I have more friends overall, but down here he wins in the friend category.
Who has more siblings? Brett has 3 wonderful brothers and I have an amazing sister. SO that would be Brett.
Who wears the pants in the family? HA now this brought up a debate! He says that he wears the pants in the relationship, yet i think us girls know who really wears the pants. And I would have to agree with Manda on the kid wearing the pants. Chloe does have a lot to say in what we do and when we do it.
And now I tag Tracy.

Dream
So last night I had a dream that repeated twice.
I dreamt that my parents were down here visiting us. When it was time for them to leave, I was really relieved because now I could cook with baking powder, which has corn in it. I send my parents to the airport and immediately started cooking. I made soup with baking powder in it, cookies as well, and I believe I made spaghetti that had baking powder in it. So I had all of these wonderful baking powder dishes going and all of a sudden my dad reappears in the kitchen. This was odd because he was supposed to be back in Washington by this time. And then my mom came into the kitchen yelling at my dad. Apparently my dad missed Chloe so much that when the plane landed in Washington, he got into his car and drove back down to California to see her. My mom was upset because she had to follow him. Apparently they didn't come in the same car. Then all of a sudden I was outside my parents house picking veggies for dinner and my dad was asking me where Chloe was. I had 4 jars of various soups in my arms and I handed him the jar of ham and navy bean soup which I guess was supposed to be Chloe. My dad was Happy again now that he had his Chloe and wanted to eat dinner. But when I told him that everything had baking powder in it he didn't seem to mind because he had Chloe.
Then I woke up. What does this mean?

TOP 10
Top 10 reasons why I can't wait for summer:
10 - It is sunny every day
9 - It is so warm out that I get to wear my cute summer outfits EVERYDAY
8 - I get to leave my blinds and windows open all day long
7 - Brett will be done with his first year of medical school- only 3 left
6 - I turn 25
5 - I get a discount on my car insurance for turning 25
4 - Chloe should be crawling by then
3 - Chloe will turn a year old
2 - I will be in Washington for a few weeks to help my friend with her wedding
and the number one reason why I can't wait for summer is....
1 - My gas and electricity bill will go from $240 a month down to $36 a month.
We got our bill the other day and I was shocked! It has gone up $100 every month. I can't wait to see next month's bill. And sadly we are only heating 3 sometimes 4 rooms to the point where we need only 1 sweatshirt on during the day. I turned a little fan heater on in the bathroom to take a shower and the temp on that said it was 54 degrees in the room! YIKES! Did I somehow transport my family to Iowa and am now staying with my sister? I went into the kitchen, which is now blocked off from the living room, opened the fridge....and I couldn't feel any temperature change in the room. Just one more reason why I love having single pane 1910 windows.

Now back to the cute stuff
So the other day I decided that I needed to get started on my Christmas letters. This meant that I had to get the perfect picture to go in the cards. So I spent a good afternoon playing dress up with Chloe. (What else was there to do?) Don't worry, none of these made the cut so I am not spoiling any surprises.
....................................................................
Here is Chloe doing some much needed tummy time. This was a rare moment when she wasn't face down in the blanket crying. I believe she was busy talking to her "crew" probably telling them that they need to help her come up with a plan to get her off of her belly and rolling over was not an option!

Needing to vent a little
So I love my apartment. It has wonderful and interesting features to it. It is an old 1910 Victorian home that has been restored to it's mostly original beauty. When I get around to cleaning it, I will take some pictures for you to look at.
Josh, the owner/landlord/remodel-er has done an amazing job with this remodel. However, he needs a little more help.
1) when we moved in, there was NO storage in the bathroom. Well unless you can call the tiny medicine cabinet storage. We have a pedestal sink, a claw foot tub (the other apartments have very nice tiled walk in showers and vanities), and a toilet in a little alcove if you will. So me being a girl and having STUFF, we added storage to the bathroom. We are even nice enough to leave it for the next lucky group of people to move in.
2)The kitchen has 1 count it 1 light in the middle of the room. It is a beautifully restored light fixture apparently original to the house. But it has a 75 watt bulb in it. At night it is like doing the dishes by candle light. So with my parents help, we added 3 lights for under the cabinets. Such a difference!
3)In the living room there is a very nice gas fireplace. Great you are thinking. All I have to do is turn on a switch and !voila! you have instant heat. Well in the remodeling of the place, he took out the flu (Sp?) to install the neat insert. Well that is fine and dandy in the summer time. BUT in the winter time when it gets down to the 30's at night, it isn't so cool to be heating the outdoors and not your home. Money right out the window, or in this case...the fireplace. So for now it has aluminum foil taped up all around it. My place is now warmer.
4)Original windows to the place. Wonderful 1910 single pane windows that let heat out as fast as it can be made. I asked Josh if we could "winterize them" meaning put up plastic for the winter. But instead he bought us another heater. Thanks, I get to spend more money heating the outside even more. Thanks. Oh and who needs T.V. when you have the world around you? We can hear all of the wonderful going-ons outside. Let me tell you it can make for some good entertainment. oh and the fire department is at the other end of the block. I am so glad that Chloe is a deep sleeper.
5)this brings me to the heater. We now have 2 of them. Very nice, they do keep the place nice and warm. Oh did I mention the face that we have 2 portable room heaters? Oh well the people downstairs have central heating. it was apparently easier and more efficient to give it to them. ???
So that is what I have been somewhat complaining about for the last few weeks. OK not that bad compared to other people's living conditions (Tracy).
Tonight, after our shopping trip, we were headed inside when I noticed that our neighbor upstairs (we have 3, 1 upstairs and 2 downstairs)had her lights on in the front 2 rooms. Interestingly enough I see that she has a ceiling fan in EACH ROOM!!!!! Yeah we have ZERO. Right now that is not such a big deal, but in the summer time it will be. We have ONE fan that we brought down ourselves. Oh how I can't wait for the summer to get here. Oh and did I mention that with the central heating system that the downstairs apartments have, they also come with central air conditioning? NICE JOSH!
Oh and to top it all off...WE PAY THE MOST RENT! I love it. Maybe in the summer Josh will get us a fan to use.
But I can't complain too much. We do have one of those mini dishwashers that no one else has. And I do love having it. And we do have 1300 sq ft to live in and it seems like a home rather than an apartment. So it is really nice, except for the comfort levels compared to the neighbors.
Another fun factoid...all of our neighbors have dogs. Now don't get me wrong I love dogs, but they all let the dogs go to the bathroom in the little backyard that we have and some don't clean up after their animals. So we have to "clean" or bleach our shoes ever so often when Brett accidentally happens upon one of the dog's wonderful gifts. We have an infant in the house that I really don't want to be exposed to all of the bacteria that would be running around our apartment.
Thanks for letting me vent a little. But I really do like living here. And I will post pictures soon.

First food
Over the last few weeks, Chloe has been very interested in our food when we eat. So Tuesday morning we decided to let her try some food. It was a mixture of baby rice cereal and breast milk. She didn't really like it and as you can see in the videos, she started to like the idea of eating, but not the act of eating yet. She has not been so interested in our food anymore since this event. I think I will wait a few more weeks until I try it again.
Thanksgiving
OK so it has been a while since I have posted. Sorry. My parents were in town and I was having such a good time with them, I didn't want to tear away and write a blog. So here I am now.
As you already heard, my parents came down for Thanksgiving. They came the Sunday before and stayed until the following Tuesday. It was so nice having them here for so long. We got so much stuff done. Brett and I were able to go on a date night...alone, just the 2 of us, it was so nice! On our lovely date night we got me put onto our bank account...finally....and went out to dinner. We were going to watch a movie as well, but nothing sounded remotely good, so we decided that we just wanted to go home. But the time away was very nice. With my parents, we went to the "Holiday in the Park" at Six Flags which was nice and very cold! We have a thermometer on the stroller and around 6pm it was reading 45 degrees. at the same moment I was reading it, I heard a woman in a tank top say "wow it really isn't that cold out tonight!" I was absolutely shocked! Hello lady it is 45 degrees in California. Where I come from that is cold. She must have been visiting from Alaska.
So we did the Six Flags adventure, farmers market, fixed up the apartment, and we went to San Francisco where we had a wonderful time eating good food and did some good shopping and just walking around.
My dad and mom were very helpful in making our home even better. My dad went around and fixed all the doors so they wouldn't slam shut (I love shutting them now), My dad put up lights in the kitchen under the cabinets so I can see what I am doing after the sun goes down! My mom helped make wonderful food, canned applesauce for Chloe and helped make a headboard for the guest room. They also got me a fire extinguisher which is good to have when you have a gas stove and a gas fireplace. They also made me call Josh (my landlord / owner) and had him put up weather stripping around my back door and got another heater from him. SO now my place is so much warmer.
Along with being very helpful with stuff around the house, They were very helpful with Chloe. With in the week that they were here, my dad was able to get her to almost sit by herself, like to do floor time, got her to love to stand, and was even able to help her in taking her first few very assisted steps. Here is one video for you.
